Since its founding in 2015, 1X has been at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. Our mission is to create an abundant supply of labor via safe, intelligent humanoids.
Vertical integration enables hardware, software, and AI to work together in a seamless and magical product experience, and thus we design and produce every part in-house—from motor coils to AI. At 1X, you’ll own critical projects, tackle unsolved research problems, deliver great products to customers, and be rewarded based on merit and achievement.
As we scale from research and development to full-scale manufacturing, we are looking for an AI resident. The AI residency role is a fixed-term role involves developing full-stack infrastructure for simulation, data management, and learning within the AI team. Unlike a typical internship, AI Residents tackle projects with the same scope and difficulty as those worked on by full-time employees.
Responsibilities
- Bring cutting edge ideas from the AI & Robotics research community into our products and scale them up with the largest humanoid robot dataset ever collected.
- Build evals that benchmark open-source models on tasks useful to 1X.
- Build the “data engine” (frontend UI and backend) to review logs, clean, and label data
- Ship new capabilities to robots deployed in customer sites
