Senior Teleoperation Engineer
We are at the forefront of developing advanced humanoid robots designed for household use. Our mission is to create an abundant supply of labor via safe, intelligent humanoids.
As we transition from R&D to full-scale manufacturing, we seek an experienced Senior Teleoperation Engineer. In this role, you will help us craft cutting-edge immersive teleoperation systems for our humanoid robots. You will collaborate closely with roboticists, mechanical engineers, computer scientists, and machine learning experts to bring technology to life. We are looking for individuals with hands-on experience, and a proactive "get-things-done" attitude, who excel in both long-term strategic planning and day-to-day execution of practical tasks.
Why this job is exciting
- You will work with a highly motivated team of robot operators giving instant feedback and using the system to perform useful tasks daily.
- You will see your work deployed globally, where thousands of humanoid robots perform real-world tasks in diverse environments.
- You will collaborate with a team of world-class roboticists, engineers, and AI experts to push the boundaries of robotics and technology.
- You’ll be working with a 50+ DoF biped, with hands, all driven by motors we design and manufacture in-house.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the design and development of our immersive virtual reality teleoperation stack for our humanoid robots.
- Create software for real-time control of our robots, with a focus on integrating audio, video and networking to create a compelling and effective experience for robot operation.
- Implement VR components with a focus on immersion techniques like vision reprojection and depth cues, enhancing the teleoperation experience.
- Integrate DSP and audio signal processing for spatial audio and beamforming, enhancing the VR experience with accurate and immersive sound.
- Work closely with our robot operators to understand their needs and challenges, ensuring user-centered design and usability for effective teleoperation.
- Experience in virtual reality development with solid understanding of immersion techniques such as vision reprojection and depth cues.
- Mastery in C++ and experience shipping production grade code.
- Diverse software engineering background in related disciplines such as real-time control of robotics, audio and video, networking, embedded systems and Linux.
- Strong desire to work on cutting-edge, fully immersive virtual reality teleoperation setups.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills
It will be nice if you had
- Strong background in robotics controls such as rigid body dynamics and kinematics.
- Hands-on experience building and working with immersive and real-time robotics teleoperation systems at scale.
- Strong practical experience and in-depth knowledge of network architectures and low latency protocols for audio and vision streaming and robot control.
- Experience with DSP and Audio signal processing for spatial audio and beamforming.
